Mahogany Lake is not supervised or lifeguarded. It is a Use At Your Own Risk facility.
Seasonal Lake Flag System
Mahogany Lake is an open unsupervised recreational body of water. There are no lifeguards on duty. All users are responsible for assessing conditions, participating within their abilities, and actively supervising children.
To help residents identify when elevated hazards or restrictions are present, the MHOA uses a red, yellow, and green Seasonal Lake Flag System at locations around the lake.
GREEN FLAG
OPEN – USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
Normal expected recreational conditions are present at Mahogany Lake. Natural water and ice environments always carry inherent risks, and conditions can change. A green flag does not mean that the lake is hazard-free or supervised.
YELLOW FLAG
OPEN – ELEVATED HAZARDS PRESENT – USE CAUTION – USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
An elevated hazard has been identified that may increase the inherent risks associated with recreational use of the lake. The lake remains open; however, users should exercise increased caution and make their own decision about whether conditions are appropriate for their abilities, the abilities of those in their care, and the intended activity. Check this page for details of identified hazards before entering the water or ice. A yellow flag does not indicate that conditions have have been determined to be safe. Use at your own risk.
RED FLAG
CLOSED – DO NOT ENTER
Hazardous conditions have been identified that require the lake or ice surface to be closed. Do not enter and follow all posted information and staff directions.

Weather and environmental conditions can change rapidly. Always assess conditions before entering the water or ice.

Our Lake
Mahogany Lake is not supervised or lifeguarded. It is a Use At Your Own Risk facility.
Mahogany Lake is Calgary’s largest lake, at approximately 64 acres in size. With multiple access areas, floating docks, and fishing piers. Mahogany Lake is a community lake stocked with Trout, and community members are allowed to fish within Mahogany Lake.
Catch and release/ take home limits for fish – Catch and release is encouraged for Rainbow Trout; however, for those members wishing to take home a rainbow trout, the daily creel limit is two (2) fish per Member with a monthly household limit of twelve (12) fish per residence. All fish caught by guests will be included in the Member’s creel limit.
