The first film rolled at 1:00 PM, but the beach was already buzzing long before the opening credits. Here’s how a full day of dragons, ponies, popcorn and neighbours came together for Movie in the Park 2026!

More Than a Movie Day
Families settled onto the grass with lawn chairs and blankets. Kids wandered between activities, popcorn in hand courtesy of Burton Home Team, while dragons, Vikings, ponies and mini donkeys made their way around the grounds. There was music playing, food to snack on, trivia to play, and plenty of time to hang out at the beach with friends and neighbours.
And, of course, there were movies!
This year’s How to Train Your Dragon themed event brough the entire trilogy to the big screen, with How to Train Your Dragon at 1:00 PM, How to Train Your Dragon 2 at 4:00 PM, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World at 7:00 PM.

HTTYD: The Hidden World
Between films, the beach stayed busy!
Kids could meet Mingle Entertainment’s dragons and Vikings, take photos and get into character themselves. Hammer Hill Stables brough ponies, mini donkeys, and horses, which quickly became a popular stop for families.
Mini Land Munchies kept the community fueled throughout the day, while popcorn and water were available thanks to our wonderful event sponsors at Burton Home Team.
Guests also had the opportunity to support the Veteran’s Association Food Bank by bringing cash or non-perishable food donations to the event. Donations are accepted at every Mahogany HOA event, providing an ongoing opportunity for our community to support local veterans and their families.
Kahoot Triview with the Burton Home Team gave families a chance to test their How To Train Your Dragon knowledge, while the MHOA Water Safety Team brought their own rounds of questions for the day. There were plenty of competitive answers, some very confident guesses, and of course, a few winners.

Celebrating Water Smart® Leadership
Congratulations, Jared Exner!
Jared completed the Lifesaving Society's Water Smart® Advocate Course and, for making lake safety a priority, took home the top prize. The contest recognized residents willing to learn, share and promote safer choices around the water.

A Day Made for Community
Kids ran around in Viking costumes and climbed onto ponies. Families decided to stay for just one more movie. Neighbours caught up while their kids played. And food truck dinners turned into picnics on the grass.
Movie in the Park doesn’t happen without a lot of people working together, and we are incredibly grateful to the businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community partners who helped make the day possible.
