We’re thrilled to share that registration for the 2026 Mahogany Dog Patrol Program is now open!
Please click the button below to access the online application.
Veterinary Records Needed to Apply
- DHPPV
- Rabies
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
Given the program’s popularity, we unfortunately can’t guarantee a spot for everyone. Please know we’ll process applications on a first-come, first-served basis. If you meet our requirements but miss out on a spot due to limited space, you’ll be added to our waitlist in the order your application was received. Thanks for your enthusiasm and support!
Please Note: the Mahogany HOA does not allow dogs or pets in the park between the hours of 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Again, only those selected for the Dog Patrol program are permitted to bring their dogs into the park for specific, limited periods of time as they are providing an important community service.
Dog Patrol Expectations
To help maintain the ecological balance of Mahogany beaches by providing a humane animal control service, while giving dogs a fun and enriching experience. The program runs from May 11th, 2026 (tentatively) to October 11th, 2026. Shifts will be from 6:00-7:00am, 7:00-8:00am OR in the evening from 9:45-10:30pm. Coordinating with your assigned time slot partner is heavily encouraged to ensure coverage and a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone.
Commitment
- Two (minimum) recurring weekly time slots (e.g., every Monday/Wednesday at 7:00 am) at either Main Beach or West Beach.
- Program runs from Monday, May 11th, 2026 (tentatively) through till Sunday October 11th 2026.
Responsibilities
- Patrol the Beach: Walk or run with your dog along the designated beach area to gently deter birds and small mammals.
- Wear Your Uniform: Your dog must wear the official Mahogany HOA Dog Patrol bandana during your entire shift for easy identification.
- Report Issues: Communicate any significant issues (e.g., injured wildlife, unsafe conditions, bylaw violations) to the Dog Patrol coordinator immediately.
- Ensure Safety: Just as you sign contracts acknowledging that we are a use-at-your-own risk, no fault facility, we are not responsible for the safety and wellbeing of your dog during patrol. As the owner, you are solely responsible for the safety and well-being of your dog on the park grounds.
- Be aware of other patrol dogs, wildlife, and other guests.
- Maintain control of your dog at all times.
- Clean up after your dog at all times.
- Have your dog on-leash when entering and leaving the park.
- Reliability: Show up for your scheduled shifts. If you cannot make a shift, you are responsible for finding a substitute from the Facebook Volunteer group and notifying the coordinator. If you miss more than 3 shifts without adequate coverage, you will be removed from the program and will be prohibited from returning.
Requirements
- Your dog must be up-to-date on all vaccinations [DHPPV, Rabies, Bordetella (Kennel Cough)]. We recognize not every vaccine is given every year, but all vaccine documentation MUST BE submitted during applications in .pdf format. If vaccines are not submitted during your application process, your dog will not be selected.
- The owner must be a resident of the Mahogany HOA in good standing.
- Both dog and owner must be comfortable around other dogs and people.
- The owner must abide by all Mahogany HOA By-laws or will be removed from the program and prohibited from returning.
