Water Safety Caregiver Workshop

When it comes to water safety, caregiver supervision plays an important role. The absence or momentary lapse of supervision is the leading factor in child drowning incidents. Simply being present isn’t enough; children require active and vigilant supervision to stay safe around water.

To equip caregivers with the knowledge and skills they need, we are offering comprehensive safety supervision training. This instructor-led workshop is designed for parents, grandparents, nannies, aides, and babysitters – anyone who accompanies children to pools or waterfronts.

During this workshop, caregivers will gain invaluable insights into water-related risks, the importance of active supervision, and drowning recognition. Empowered with this information, they will be better prepared to prevent drowning incidents and create a safer environment for children.

The caregiver workshop will be offered at the MHOA main building on August 3, from 5-7pm. Feel free to invite anyone who would be interested or whoever may accompany your child to the beach! This workshop is offered free to households with children in the 2023 Water Safety Ambassador program. For individuals not associated with the Water Safety Ambassador program, there is a $10 fee.
